Algae is an important part of our planet’s ecosystem, just don’t invite them over to your pool party.  Understanding algae becomes increasingly more important in our attempts to eliminate it from our pools.  We will explore how algae gets into pools, examine whether our current classification system is appropriate, and look at ways in which we can prevent and mitigate the effects on our pools.  We will show how new research in this area is uncovering surprising new details about what we thought we knew about algae in pools and in our approach to eliminate them.
